Mask / treatment

We separate what the formula actually does from what the marketing says. Ingredient lists checked against claims, cost per ounce compared, and every formula read by what it is built to do.

Common preferences
Curly Girl Method
What this filters

The curly-method rules, as a formula reading: no sulfate detergent, and no silicone that needs a detergent to remove.

These filters reflect common preferences, not safety ratings. Each ingredient page explains what the evidence actually says.

Fragrance-sensitive
What this filters

No added fragrance on the label, and none of the common essential oils we detect. Our essential-oil list is fixed, so it can miss an unusual botanical.

These filters reflect common preferences, not safety ratings. Each ingredient page explains what the evidence actually says.

Avoids common sensitizers
What this filters

No added fragrance, no isothiazolinone preservatives, and no formaldehyde-releasing preservatives. These are the ingredients most often named in contact-allergy reporting.

These filters reflect common preferences, not safety ratings. Each ingredient page explains what the evidence actually says.

Avoids parabens & formaldehyde-releasers
What this filters

No parabens and no formaldehyde-releasing preservatives on the label.

These filters reflect common preferences, not safety ratings. Each ingredient page explains what the evidence actually says.

Vegan & cruelty-free
What this filters

The brand states both vegan and cruelty-free, and we recorded where it says so.

These filters reflect common preferences, not safety ratings. Each ingredient page explains what the evidence actually says.

Our process & standards

  • Every product here was researched against manufacturer, regulatory, and retailer sources, with the ingredient list captured as printed.
  • Sources are used in that order — the manufacturer first, then regulatory records, then retailers — and a claim only counts as the brand’s when the brand is the one making it.
  • Formula readings are derived from that ingredient list by a fixed rule set — the same one the consultation uses to match products to people.
  • Cost per ounce is computed from dated price observations and compared only against products of the same type and size class.
  • We sell nothing here. Nothing on these pages is paid placement, and no brand can buy a position, a badge, or a chip.
