Questions, answered plainly
What the consultation is, what it costs, and what happens to your answers.
Can I change an answer later?
Yes, from the detail itself. Every hair detail, product and routine entry on your profile has its own Edit control: it opens that one question, shows your current answer, and returns you to the same spot when you save. Answers you have already given are reused, so a new concern or context asks only what is missing.
Your free basics and product preferences can be updated up to five times a day. A Personal Hair Consultation includes 30 days of edits and guidance updates from payment; new membership adds 12 months after any remaining paid consultation access. Guidance that reads a changed answer is checked again on its own; everything else stays as it was.
What do I actually get?
A written plan built from your own answers: the order to do things in, which products match your hair and why each one was chosen, how much to use and where, what to expect over the next few weeks, and one experiment worth trying next.
You can read your plan any time by signing in. It stays available — it is not a one-time download.
How long does the consultation take?
The questions depend on your selected concerns and saved answers. Your preview lists the currently relevant questions, and follow-ups depend on your answers. Save and return whenever you need to.
What does it cost?
$49.00 once, for your consultation and hair profile. No subscription, no required purchases.
Shelf Check is free and saves your current products and hair basics in a private profile. The $49.00 one-time consultation adds supported concern guidance and 30 days of updates from payment. Optional membership costs $199 per year, renews annually and includes one year of updates; hair-care chat is planned. Prices are shown before checkout. There is nothing you are required to buy — the products in your plan are ordinary products you can get wherever you already shop.
Do you measure my hair?
No. Your personal hair consultation is based on the answers you provide and our researched product library. It does not physically test your hair and it is not a medical diagnosis.
What it does is take what you already know about your hair — how it behaves when it is wet, how fast your scalp oils, what has and has not worked — and match that against a researched library of product formulas.
How are products chosen?
From our own product library. Every product in it has been researched from the manufacturer's own ingredient list and published information, and each entry records where the information came from so it can be checked. We read the formula rather than the marketing copy on the front of the bottle.
Your answers become a set of requirements — how much richness, how much cleansing, what to avoid — and products are matched against those requirements first. Price and convenience are considered after suitability, never instead of it.
You can browse the whole library yourself at the product library, and read what any individual ingredient does at the ingredient library.
Do brands pay to be recommended?
No. No brand pays to appear in the library, to rank higher in it, or to be included in anyone's plan. We do not currently earn a commission on any link on this site. If that ever changes, we will label it plainly and keep it separate from how products are ranked.
Is this medical advice?
No. This is cosmetic hair-care guidance. It does not diagnose or treat any condition.
Sudden shedding, pain, sores, or a scalp that is not settling down are worth taking to a qualified clinician rather than to a shampoo.
How do I sign back in?
Before you pay or use an invitation, we ask you to verify your account with Google or a six-digit email code. This saves your purchase and answers together, so finishing the questionnaire takes you straight to your hair profile.
Go to the sign-in page. If the email you used is a Google account, choose Continue with Google and pick that account. Otherwise enter the email address you used and we send you both a sign-in link and a six-digit code. Click the link to sign in on that device, or enter the code on the page where you requested it. Reading email on your phone while using your computer? Enter the code on your computer. Use either option once within ten minutes — there is no password to remember or lose.
The emailed link works once and expires. If it has been sitting in your inbox too long, just request a new one.
Where is this available?
The United States, for now. The product library is priced and stocked for US shoppers, so a plan built for somewhere else would point you at products you cannot easily buy. You are welcome to read the library from anywhere.
What do you do with my answers?
We use them to build your plan, and we keep them so your plan stays available when you sign back in. We do not sell them, and we do not use them to advertise to you. There is no third-party analytics on this site.
The full detail is in the privacy policy.
How do I delete my data?
Sign in and open Account settings, where you can download a copy of everything we hold and delete your account outright. Deletion is immediate in the live service and removes your profile, your answers and your plan; our nightly backup copies expire on the schedule described in the privacy policy.
You can also email hello@hairyoulove.com from the address you signed up with and ask us to do it for you.
Records of any payment stay with our payment processor, because we are required to keep them.
How do I get in touch?
Email hello@hairyoulove.com — we answer within one business day. There is no phone line and no chat window; one person reads that inbox and replies properly.
Still stuck?
If your question is not here, email hello@hairyoulove.com. We answer within one business day.
