Wrap your hair with a sleep scarf
When you want to contain dry loose hair at bedtime, a square scarf lets you adjust the fit yourself. Leave room for the hair and keep the knot comfortable against your pillow.

Step by step
STEP 1 OF 4Fold the scarf
- Start with dry hair and scalp. Remove clips and set a clean square scarf on a reachable surface.
- Bring two opposite corners together to make a triangle, with the smooth hair-facing surface inside.
- Choose enough fabric to cover your hair and tie the ends without stretching or squeezing.
STEP 2 OF 4Cover and tuck your hair
- Hold the triangle by its two side corners. Set the long folded edge across your hairline, with the point hanging behind your head.
- Hold one corner steady with one hand. Use the other to tuck loose ends beneath the back fabric, then switch sides.
- Fold longer lengths loosely inside. Keep the side corners free for tying and leave your face uncovered.
STEP 3 OF 4Tie and check the fit
- Bring the two side corners to your nape, where your neck meets your hairline, over the central triangle flap.
- Cross one corner over the other, pass it through the opening and ease the first knot together without pulling hair.
- Cross the corners the other way and pass one through again to make a second loose knot. Keep hair out of both knots.
- Tuck the short fabric tails under the edge. Turn your head and rest on your pillow to check for pressure or slipping.
STEP 4 OF 4Untie in the morning
- Pull the tucked fabric tails free, then loosen and undo both knots with your fingers.
- Lift the open scarf away from your head with both hands, letting the hair fall free; do not drag it off while tied.
- Lay the scarf somewhere clean and dry. Wash it when soiled or as directed by its care label.
About 1–3 min hands-on for folding, placing and tying the scarf, checking comfort and morning removal. Add overnight wear; prior drying and laundering are separate.
You’re done when…
Your dry hair sits loosely inside, your face and neck remain clear, and the scarf and knot feel comfortable when you turn your head and rest on your pillow. In the morning, undo the knot completely before lifting it off.
