Make daily wig wear more comfortable.
Keep layers dry and clean them separately.

A wig that felt fine in the morning can start to press, rub or feel damp later. Take a removable wig off when it becomes uncomfortable. Check the cap, your hair underneath and any liner or grip before putting it back on.

What is going on

A man holds a short curly wig by its sturdy cap before putting it on.

Check the edge that presses or rubs

With the wig off, inspect the front edge, ear tabs, nape and seams near the uncomfortable spot. Remove caught hair or a bunched liner. If the same edge keeps pressing, ask the supplier to check the fit before wearing it again.

Try optional layers one at a time

A liner or grip adds thickness beneath the cap. Try only accessories the wig supplier permits, with each layer clean and dry. Check for folds and pressure before wearing it out. A soft liner can still make the cap feel too tight.

What helps, day to day

A man lifts the removable wig clear by its cap sides.

Take a break when pressure or dampness builds

  • Take the wig off if it pulls, pinches or causes a headache.
  • If your hair, scalp or liner is damp, let it dry before putting the wig back on.
  • Plan a private place for breaks or bring another comfortable covering.

Recheck fit after changing your hair underneath

  • Arrange your dry hair loosely and evenly, without a bulky knot or tight braid under the cap.
  • If your length or hair volume has changed, check the supplier’s full sizing method.
  • Take the wig off to rearrange lumps rather than tightening the straps.

Clean the liner or grip separately

  • Follow its care label for cleaning and drying.
  • Let it dry completely before reuse.
  • Keep a clean, dry spare if you wear one daily.
  • Clean the wig separately using its own cap and fiber instructions.

Products, by the job they do

Wash your own scalp when it needs it

With the wig off, wash according to scalp oil, dirt and product buildup. Apply shampoo mainly to your scalp and rinse it out thoroughly. Let your scalp and hair dry before replacing the wig. Added fragrance will not remove buildup.

Keep your own lengths easy to detangle

Condition your own lengths for easier combing, using the amount and rinse-out or leave-in method on the product. Arrange the dry hair loosely under the wig. If it creates a lump, change the arrangement instead of pulling it tighter.

Wig placement and an optional grip

Put on a fitted glueless wig

Use an already fitted full wig designed for removable wear without glue. Position the cap, adjust with its ear tabs, then check comfort with your hands lowered. The removal steps explain releasing fasteners before lifting the cap away.

Fit an optional velvet grip band

For a compatible adjustable band, check its orientation, lay it flat and close it without stretching. Test the fit again with the wig on. Take the wig off before opening and removing the band.
