Fit a velvet wig-grip band
Fit an adjustable velvet grip beneath a compatible wig, then check both layers together. The band should lie flat and hold comfortably without being stretched tight.
Step by step
STEP 1 OF 7Check which way the band faces
- Start with a clean, dry band and dry hair or scalp. Find its inside, front and fastening direction from its own markings and instructions.
- Open the hook-and-loop closure fully. Keep loose hair away from its rough patches and smooth out any folds.
STEP 2 OF 7Lay the band flat around your head
- Hold one end in each hand. Place the front where this band’s instructions show, keeping the correct side against your hair or skin.
- Bring the ends toward the nape without twisting the band. Keep hair out of the closure.
STEP 3 OF 7Close the band without stretching it
- Overlap and press the closure together at the nape. Leave the band flat against your head without pulling it tight.
- If it pinches or catches hair, open it again and reposition it. Check its final placement before adding the wig.
STEP 4 OF 7Check the fit with the wig on
- Put on the compatible wig by its sturdy cap edges. The linked glueless wig method shows the full application and removal.
- Lower your hands and turn your head gently. Check the front, ears and nape for pressure, pulling or slipping.
- If either layer slips or presses, remove the wig and check the band. Ask about fit if it keeps happening rather than making the band tighter.
STEP 5 OF 7Take the wig off first
- Release any wig clips and lift the wig away by its sturdy cap edges. Leave the band in place until the wig is clear.
- Set the wig on its suitable stand or clean storage surface.
STEP 6 OF 7Open the band’s closure
- Hold one end steady at the nape while peeling the other end away. Open the hook-and-loop patches fully.
- Gently free any caught hairs before moving the band away from your head.
STEP 7 OF 7Lift the open band clear
- Hold both ends and lift the open band away without dragging it through your hair.
- Close the patches together for storage so they cannot snag hair. Wash when needed using its care label, and dry it fully before wearing it again.
Fit, check and later remove one band. Wig preparation and band washing are separate.
You’re done when…
The band and wig feel comfortable together without slipping. At removal, the wig comes off first, then the open band lifts away without catching hair.
