Refresh waves and curls between washes

When a few loose waves, curls or coils look flattened or disrupted between washes, a targeted refresh lightly rewets and reshapes only those sections. Water can be enough; use a refresher product only when its label supports the same state and placement.

Woman cups the ends of her own lightly damp loose curls in both open hands during one gentle reshaping press.

Step by step

  1. Woman with dry loose waves and curls gently isolates one disrupted side section with her own hands.
    STEP 1 OF 4

    Choose the sections to refresh

    • Let your dry hair settle, then look for the loose sections that are flattened or disrupted.
    • Bring one reachable section forward and separate it gently with clean hands.
    • Leave sections that still hold their shape alone.
  2. Woman aims a plain fine-mist bottle below her face at the mid-lengths and ends of one supported curl section.
    STEP 2 OF 4

    Lightly rewet or apply refresher

    • For water only, mist the selected lengths and ends lightly or smooth them with damp palms.
    • For a refresher spray, use only the label-directed amount, state and placement.
    • Stop when the selected section is lightly damp or treated as directed, not dripping.

The photo shows a fine mist aimed below the face at one supported section. It does not set the directions for an exact product.

    STEP 3 OF 4

    Reshape and release

    • Place open palms under the selected ends and lift the section toward your head.
    • Press once with relaxed fingers, then lower your hands and release it completely.
    • Repeat only where needed, then keep your hands off while the refreshed areas dry.
  4. Woman checks a dry refreshed outer curl section while lifting inner hair near the nape with her other hand.
    STEP 4 OF 4

    Dry fully and check

    • Air-dry, or use the drying method already selected in your routine and supported by the product label.
    • Touch the refreshed surface lightly and lift one small inner section to check roots and hidden lengths.
    • Stop only when every rewetted area is dry; check again before sleep or covering.

About 2–5 min hands-on for selecting, lightly wetting and reshaping a few disrupted sections, plus dry checks. Add air-drying or a separate active diffuser session.

Practical editorial estimate, not measured. A selective refresh is quicker than washing and restyling the whole head; more sections take longer.

You’re done when…

The selected sections have been reshaped and released, and the refreshed surface, roots and inner lengths are fully dry before sleep or covering.
