Use rinse-free liquid shampoo and towel it out

When shower or basin access is difficult, a towel-removal liquid can offer a seated washing option. You still need to reach all your hair and remove the solution thoroughly.

Step by step

  1. A seated woman opens a rinse-free liquid shampoo bottle beside two clean towels.
    STEP 1 OF 4

    Arrange a seated wash

    • Check the liquid’s starting state, amount, removal directions and warnings. Put a clean towel and the bottle on a reachable table.
    • Sit upright with a towel over your shoulders. Open the bottle with clean hands; keep clean water available for accidental eye contact.
  2. A seated woman applies rinse-free liquid shampoo to a small area near her crown while her other hand separates the hair.
    STEP 2 OF 4

Wet your hair with the liquid

    • Starting on dry hair, use the bottle as directed to wet the areas the label names. Work in manageable sections and control drips.
    • Set the bottle down before moving hair aside. Continue around the sides and back until you have covered all the required areas.
  3. A woman gently distributes rinse-free liquid shampoo through her short hair with both hands.
    STEP 3 OF 4

    Distribute gently with your hands

    • Put the bottle down. With finger pads, gently work the solution through the scalp and hair as the label directs.
    • Reach the crown, sides and nape without scratching. Keep loose lengths down; pause if you cannot reach an area comfortably.
  4. A woman presses a clean towel against the side and back of her damp hair after liquid shampooing.
    STEP 4 OF 4

Remove the solution with a towel

    • Press and lift a clean absorbent towel across every treated area. Use dry parts of the towel to remove as much moisture as directed.
    • Do not leave the wet solution to evaporate instead of towel-removing it. Let remaining dampness air dry after towel removal.
    • Close the bottle, put the used towels aside to wash, and clean any drips from the table and floor.

Includes setup, full application, distribution, towel removal and cleanup; complete air drying is separate.

Unmeasured editorial planning estimate for the complete described sequence, not a target exposure or forced completion time. Reach, dexterity, hair amount and familiarity change the time.

You’re done when…

All treated areas have been thoroughly towel-dried as directed, with no dripping liquid. Remaining dampness can air dry.
