Straighten with a heated straightening brush

Choose this method when your exact heated-brush manual permits dry, detangled sections and you can keep the guide hand clear of the hot surface.

Step by step

  1. Holding one fully dry detangled section beside an unplugged heated straightening brush on a heatproof mat.
    STEP 1 OF 3

    Prepare fully dry hair

    • Read the exact manual, inspect the cord and bristles, and place the unplugged brush on a heatproof rest away from water.
    • Confirm dry, detangled hair. Apply compatible dry-hair heat protectant as directed, let it settle or dry as labeled, then confirm hair is fully dry again.
  2. Passing a heated straightening brush down one dry section while the other hand holds the cool ends far below the hot bristles.
    STEP 2 OF 3

    Glide one section

    • Choose the lowest effective permitted setting. Hold the brush in one hand and keep the other hand well ahead of the heated surface.
    • Place the bristles through a small section without touching skin, then glide steadily toward the ends. Never wind hair around the brush.
  3. Lowered hands checking a released straight section while the switched-off brush cools on its mat.
    STEP 3 OF 3

    Release and cool

    • Release the ends before shaping them. Let the section cool and check it before deciding whether another pass is needed.
    • Switch off and unplug. Put the brush on its heatproof rest, allow it to cool fully and remove loose hair only as the manual permits.

About 10–30 min hands-on for setup, sectioning, heated-brush passes and cleanup. Start with completely dry, detangled hair. Add protectant drying, warm-up, cooling and breaks.

Practical editorial estimate, not measured. A modest number of brush sections is quicker than many small iron sections; dense or long hair can take longer.

You’re done when…

Each treated section is cool and released with the intended surface alignment, and the brush is switched off, unplugged and cooling on its rest.
