Smooth curl cream through your hair

For loose waves, curls or coils when your selected cream calls for flat-palm smoothing. Holding each section between open palms spreads product over both outer surfaces without turning the movement into raking, scrunching or finger coiling.

A woman holds one damp curly section between two flat palms and smooths toward the ends.

Step by step

  1. A woman brings one damp curly section forward while the rest of her hair is clipped loosely away.
    STEP 1 OF 4

    Prepare reachable sections

    • Start with loose damp or wet hair in the state permitted by the label. Detangle first if your routine calls for it.
    • Divide the hair into a few workable sections. Bring one section forward and clip or rest the others out of the way without tight pulling.
  2. A woman spreads a small amount of curl cream into a thin film over both palms.
    STEP 2 OF 4

    Spread the directed amount

    • Dispense the label-directed starting amount into one palm, set the container down, then rub both palms together into a thin film.
    • Keep the product across the flat surfaces of your palms rather than concentrated on fingertips.

The visible cream is an example, not a dose. Use the amount and order on your selected label.

  3. A woman holds one damp curly section between two flat palms and smooths toward the ends.
    STEP 3 OF 4

Glide flat palms down the section

    • Place one open palm on each side of the same section, below the roots, as if bringing your hands together in a prayer position.
    • With light contact, glide both palms toward the ends. Keep the section between them; do not rake fingers through, twist it or pull on a snag.
  4. A woman releases one smoothed curl section and brings the next section within reach.
    STEP 4 OF 4

    Release, check and continue

    • Open your hands and let the section hang. Stop adding product when it has a thin, even coating with no visible white patch.
    • Repeat on remaining sections, then use only the next shaping and drying steps in your selected routine. Close the container and wash your hands.

About 3–7 min hands-on for dividing loose sections, smoothing curl cream through them and hand cleanup. Start with damp or wet, detangled hair; separate shaping and drying add time.

Practical editorial estimate, not measured. Full-length section coverage takes more work than a surface finisher; long or dense hair can take longer.

You’re done when…

Every selected section has a thin, even coating with no concentrated white patch. The sections are released and ready for the next planned shaping or drying action.
