Set pin curls without heat

Choose a pin-curl set when you want damp loose hair to dry in compact flat circles rather than around rollers. The set uses no heat and releases only after every circle is dry.

A woman uses both hands to form one damp side section into a flat circular pin curl around two fingers.

Step by step

  1. A woman with damp loose shoulder-length hair holds one small smooth side section and a pin-curl clip.
    STEP 1 OF 4

    Prepare a damp section

    • Clip away the rest and bring one smooth, detangled section within reach.
    • Keep the root comfortable and the ends together.
  2. A woman uses both hands to form one damp side section into a flat circular pin curl around two fingers.
    STEP 2 OF 4

    Roll a flat circle

    • Wrap the ends around one or two fingers and continue toward the scalp.
    • Hold the circle with the other hand while sliding the fingers out.
  3. A woman holds one flat circular pin curl with one hand while placing a smooth pin-curl clip with the other.
    STEP 3 OF 4

    Lay flat and clip

    • Place the circle flat against the head without tightening the root.
    • Open one smooth clip with the free hand and secure the circle; reset it if it pinches.
    • Repeat the prepare, roll and clip steps until every intended section lies in a comfortable flat circle.
  4. A woman supports a fully dry flat pin curl while removing its clip, with other pin curls still secured.
    STEP 4 OF 4

    Dry and release

    • Confirm that every root, rolled center and set of ends feels fully dry; wait longer wherever dampness remains.
    • Remove the clip completely, support the circle and unroll it gently.
    • After every clip is out, arrange the dry curls lightly with your fingers and collect all pin-curl clips and sectioning clips.

About 25–60 min hands-on for sectioning, forming a full pin-curl set, clipping and later releasing it. Start with damp, detangled hair. Add complete air-drying and breaks.

Practical editorial estimate, not measured. Each rolled circle needs individual placement and takedown; many small curls can exceed the range.

You’re done when…

Every clip is removed, each root and rolled center was dry before release, and the curls are unrolled without snagging.
