Set hair with pull-through mesh curlers
Use a hook-and-sleeve set when you want a temporary curl shape and can handle a small section without drag. Choose sleeves that contain the entire length and begin at the front or side.
Step by step
STEP 1 OF 3Load the sleeve and choose a section
- Read your set’s directions and check that its hook is fully assembled. Choose a sleeve long enough to contain the entire section.
- Start with damp detangled hair. Clip other hair aside, then slide an empty sleeve onto the hook so its hook end emerges from the top opening.
STEP 2 OF 3Draw a small section inside
- Separate a small reachable section and give its upper length a slight twist to gather stray hairs. Place all of that section inside the hook.
- Hold the sleeve’s upper opening near the section, leaving the roots comfortable. Gently draw the hook handle down through the sleeve as directed.
- If it catches, stop and push the hook back to release the hair. Detangle and retry a smaller section; never pull harder. Remove the hook and let the sleeve settle.
STEP 3 OF 3Air-dry and open the sleeve to remove
- Let the set air-dry fully. Gently open one sleeve to check the root and inner hair; if damp, reset it and wait longer.
- For removal, follow the set’s method to open its upper end and straighten the sleeve while easing it down. Stop at any catch and free the hair gently.
- Arrange fully released curls with your fingers. Collect every sleeve and clip, then clean, dry and store the tools as their maker directs.
One reachable front or side panel, including setup and release. A whole head takes longer.
You’re done when…
The fully dry section slides gently out of the opened sleeve, with every hook, curler and clip collected.
