Preserve a blowout or silk press between washes

Use this after a finished smooth style when you want to reduce tangling and preserve its direction until your ordinary wash or scalp-comfort needs take precedence.

Loosely wrapping fully dry straight hair around the head under a smooth sleep scarf with no tight hairline.

Step by step

  1. Checking dry roots and nape with fingertips before wrapping a smooth style for sleep.
    STEP 1 OF 3

    Start completely dry

    • Feel the roots, nape and inner lengths before bed. If any area is damp, finish drying it using the separate method already in your routine.
    • Brush or finger-arrange only enough to remove obvious tangles; keep the hairline and scalp comfortable.
  2. Loosely wrapping fully dry straight hair around the head under a smooth sleep scarf with no tight hairline.
    STEP 2 OF 3

    Wrap or loosely gather

    • Use the existing straight-style wrap guide, or gather the hair in a very loose high shape with a soft tie.
    • Cover with a clean smooth scarf or bonnet without pulling the hairline. Remove it immediately if the style hurts.
  3. Removing a smooth sleep scarf and letting preserved dry hair fall freely before light finger arranging.
    STEP 3 OF 3

    Release without heat

    • In the morning, remove the covering and any tie, then let the hair fall for a minute.
    • Use dry fingers or a brush to reset the part and roots. If roots are damp from sweat, let them air before re-covering.

About 2–5 min hands-on for checking dryness, loosely gathering or wrapping, covering, and morning release and reset. Add overnight wear; any required drying or substantial detangling is separate.

Practical editorial estimate, not measured. A simple gather is quicker than a full straight-style wrap; fit and length change the time.

You’re done when…

The style remains dry, the hairline and scalp feel comfortable, and the covering or tie releases without snagging or added heat.
