Make a bubble ponytail
Add a rounded, segmented shape to a ponytail without weaving a braid. A low side placement keeps the ties and shaping movements within view and reach.
Step by step
STEP 1 OF 3Make a comfortable low ponytail
- Detangle first with your usual gentle method. Place several smooth fabric-covered ties within reach.
- Gather a low ponytail and secure its base without pulling. Bring the free lengths over a shoulder if they reach comfortably.
STEP 2 OF 3Space ties and shape the sections
- Hold the free tail and wrap a second tie farther down, leaving room for hair between the ties to spread. Repeat along the length you can handle.
- Support each lower tie with one hand. With the other, gently ease small amounts of hair outward between the ties to make a rounded section.
- Stop widening if a tie shifts sharply or the roots pull. Smaller bubbles are fine; do not force symmetry.
STEP 3 OF 3Check and remove without dragging
- Turn your head and check that the base and each segment feel comfortable. Loosen or remove any tie that pulls.
- For takedown, support the hair and unwind each tie one at a time, starting at the end. Do not pull a tight tie down the whole length.
- Separate any snags with your fingers and put away the ties.
One bubble ponytail, including setup, fastening, shaping and later removal. Detangling is separate.
You’re done when…
The rounded sections hold without pulling, and each tie can be loosened without forcing it through the hair.
