Dry your hair with a matched dryer stand on cool air

Supporting the dryer can reduce the time you spend holding its weight. This method uses a manufacturer-approved stand, a continuous cool setting and controls you can reach immediately.

Step by step

  1. A seated woman checks a compact dryer on its supplied tabletop base while its unplugged plug lies visible on the dry table.
    STEP 1 OF 4

Fit the matched stand while unplugged

    • Read the dryer and stand instructions. Assemble the approved pairing and required attachment while unplugged; check it is secure.
    • Place it on a firm, level, dry surface away from water. Keep vents uncovered, the cable clear of your feet and the unit away from the edge.
  2. A seated woman reaches a side control on a supported tabletop dryer, with a clear gap between the diffuser and her damp hair.
    STEP 2 OF 4

    Check your position and controls

    • Towel-blot first. Sit where the outlet can reach your hair at the manual’s distance without aiming directly at your scalp or drawing hair into the intake.
    • With dry hands, check you can reach the off switch immediately. Plug in, select continuous cool air and a gentle speed, then check the airflow.
  3. A seated woman gently separates the side lengths of her damp bob in front of the diffuser of a supported tabletop dryer.
    STEP 3 OF 4

Move your hair through the cool airflow

    • Bring a manageable area into the airflow without pulling it tight. Use your free hands to move hair gently so one spot is not held against the outlet.
    • Switch off before changing the dryer position or turning to another area. Check the sides, crown and nape in turn; take breaks as needed.
  4. With the tabletop dryer switched off and unplugged, a woman checks the back roots of her hair with her fingers.
    STEP 4 OF 4

Check for damp areas and put it away

    • Switch off and feel the roots and underneath with your fingers. If needed, continue on cool; you can also leave remaining dampness to air dry.
    • Switch off, unplug and let the unit cool before removing parts or storing it. Follow its care instructions and keep the cable loosely arranged.

Includes setup, attended cool drying, repositioning, checks and shutdown. Thick or long hair can take longer; this is not a required drying time.

Unmeasured editorial planning estimate for the complete described sequence, not a target exposure or forced completion time. Reach, dexterity, hair amount and familiarity change the time.

You’re done when…

You have checked the roots and underneath; hair is dry enough for your next step or is being left to finish air drying. The dryer is off and unplugged.
