Clean a removable diffuser

Clean a cool detached diffuser while keeping the dryer itself away from water. The attachment’s manual decides which surfaces and cleaning methods are allowed.

Step by step

  1. Hands wipe between the prongs of a cool detached hair-dryer diffuser.
    STEP 1 OF 2

    Detach and clear accessible surfaces

    • Unplug the dryer and let it cool completely. Remove the diffuser as its manual directs and keep the dryer away from the cleaning area.
    • Lift out loose hair. Support the rim and wipe the bowl and prongs with a soft cloth, dampened only as the manual permits.
    • Use a permitted soft brush for accessible residue if needed. Do not poke into vents or remove parts the manual does not identify as removable.
  2. Hands place a cleaned detached diffuser on a dry towel with its openings exposed to air.
    STEP 2 OF 2

    Dry fully before reconnecting

    • Rinse only if the exact attachment’s directions permit it. Keep water away from the dryer body throughout cleaning.
    • Set the attachment on a clean dry towel in an airy place away from heat. Leave it until every part, including vents and connector, is dry.
    • Inspect for remaining blockage or cracks. Reattach only when clean, dry and intact; ask the maker about damage or residue you cannot remove.

Cleaning one detached diffuser; allow additional time for cooling and complete drying.

Unmeasured editorial handling estimate for the stated scope. Familiarity, access and the item or hair being handled change the time.

You’re done when…

Accessible prongs and vents are clear, the attachment is completely dry and undamaged, and it reconnects as its maker directs.
