Check the seller as closely as the bottle.
A familiar photo still leaves questions.

A marketplace can list the product you want from several sellers, in several sizes and variants. Before you order, pin down who’s selling, exactly what the item is, and what happens if it’s wrong. A polished page or a low price doesn’t settle that.

What is going on

A man holds a small bottle and a large pump bottle at a table with a blank notebook and calculator.

Match the exact item

Compare the full name, variant, size and what it’s for against the maker’s current information. Check whether the listing is one bottle, a multipack or a refill. A photo of the right front label isn’t enough when the written description says something else.

See what the brand says about sellers

Look on the brand’s own site for its retailers in your region, or ask them about the seller directly. Policies differ and change. A seller the brand doesn’t list is a reason to ask more questions, not proof the bottle is fake.

What helps, day to day

An adult reads a generic reviews page beside a closed shampoo bottle and blank notebook.

Read past the star rating

  • Look at reviews in more than one place, checking dates and whether they’re about this seller and item.
  • Some are about delivery, some about personal taste, some about another variant.
  • Tone won’t reveal every fake review, and popular doesn’t mean genuine.

Find out who sorts out a problem

  • Before you pay, find the seller’s contact details, the return policy and what protection the marketplace offers on this item.
  • Check the deadlines and the exceptions.
  • Pay inside the marketplace’s protected system.
  • If a seller asks you to switch to an outside payment link, that’s a no.

Pause on a price that needs explaining

  • Check the size, the quantity, shipping and the item’s condition before you compare totals.
  • A price that’s far too low earns more questions, though it doesn’t prove anything on its own.
  • If the seller can’t clear up something that matters, buy elsewhere or wait.

Products, by the job they do

Pick the shampoo before chasing the deal

Work out which cleanser suits your scalp, washing and treatments first, and read its directions. Then compare sellers for that exact product. A trustworthy seller doesn’t make every shampoo right for you.

Conditioner fit is a separate check

How your hair tangles, its length, product weight and what’s worked before decide the conditioner. Confirm whether it rinses out or stays in, then check the exact listing. A seller’s high rating says nothing about how that formula will feel on your hair.

Keep the purchase details together

Save the listing, seller name, order confirmation, written answers and return terms. If what arrives is different, photograph it and go through the seller or the marketplace’s own process. A saved listing helps you explain a problem. It doesn’t guarantee a refund.

Leave the open question visible

Write down what you don’t know before you decide. The exact variant, who the seller is, or which return rule applies. Don’t buy an uncertain bottle just to test it on yourself. Staying with a product from a clearer source, or waiting, is fine.

Illustrated care examples: before & after

Write the checks down

The same adult opens a notebook with seller, size and returns headings beside an unchanged product listing.
Before · listing open, nothing writtenAfter care · seller, size and returns noted
Same listing, but now the seller, size and returns are written down to check before buying. A list keeps the decision organized, nothing more.

Write the question down

The same adult pauses at a product listing and writes under a Question for seller heading.
Before · an unanswered item questionAfter care · question written before continuing
The thing you could not find out about the listing gets written down before going further. Then you ask, though an answer or refund is never promised.

Help with your hair-care routine

Bring your hair-care questions to the consultation. You can also read comparing salon products and lower-cost alternatives.

  • Who is actually selling the item in this listing?
  • What does the brand say right now about buying from here?
  • What records and return terms am I keeping?

Tell us the products you’re weighing up, the job you need done, your budget and what you care about. A consultation can help with whether a product suits you. It can’t vouch for an individual marketplace bottle or for how a seller will behave.
