Weave an infinity side braid
Choose a reachable side ponytail to learn the wrapping path. Keep the same small strand moving, adding hair to it only when it becomes too short to continue.
Step by step
STEP 1 OF 3Make two cores and a small wrapper
- Make a comfortable low side ponytail and bring it forward. Divide it into two large sections that you can keep separate between your fingers.
- Take a small strand from the outside of the right section. Keep it distinct from the two larger cores; this is the strand that will do the wrapping.
STEP 2 OF 3Repeat one figure-eight path
- Carry the small strand over the right core, then under the left core. Bring it around the outside of the left core and over its front.
- Pass the strand under the right core, then around its outside to the front. Repeat that same figure-eight route while keeping both cores separate.
- If the working strand becomes short, add a little hair from the outside of either core to it. Continue with that combined strand; do not cinch or knot the wraps.
STEP 3 OF 3Secure and unwind from below
- Stop before the ends become difficult to hold. Gather the cores and working strand and secure with the second soft tie. Check that the base still feels relaxed.
- To take down, remove the end tie. Unwind the last wrap first, reversing the figure-eight path and separating any added hair as you work upward.
- Once every wrap is open, remove the base tie and gently check the loose lengths. Pause to free any small catch rather than pulling the cores apart.
One reachable braid including setup and later takedown; learning the pattern may take longer.
You’re done when…
A continuous small strand wraps around the two cores, the end is tied comfortably and takedown reverses each wrap before the base tie comes out.
