Wash with a cleansing conditioner
For a wash day when your selected cleansing conditioner is meant to clean the scalp and hair in one rinse-out step. Its label sets the amount, placement, massage, waiting, detangling and rinse directions.

Step by step
STEP 1 OF 4Wet the scalp and hair
- Put the closed cleansing conditioner within reach and set the fixed shower to comfortably warm water.
- Wet the crown, sides, nape and hanging hair thoroughly. Move hair aside with one hand so water reaches underneath.
STEP 2 OF 4Apply and work over the scalp
- Move clear of the stream. Dispense the label-directed amount into your palms, spread it as directed, then put the container down.
- Move wet hair aside with one hand. Use the finger pads of the other over each label-supported scalp area; follow its pressure, movement and added-water directions.
STEP 3 OF 4Work through the lengths as directed
- Bring one loose side forward and distribute the cleanser through the supported lengths and ends with relaxed palms.
- Use any waiting or detangling step only when the selected directions call for it. Do not pull through a snag; use a separately selected detangling method if needed.
STEP 4 OF 4Rinse the scalp and hair
- Return under the fixed shower. Lift hair at the crown with one hand so water reaches the scalp, then guide water through the hanging lengths with the other.
- Continue for the label-directed rinse until no visible cream remains at the roots or through the hair. Rinse your hands and shower spills, then close the container.
About 5–10 min hands-on for wetting, distributing cleansing conditioner over scalp and lengths, rinsing and cleanup. Add label dwell; substantial detangling and drying are separate.
You’re done when…
The selected label's rinse is complete, water has reached the scalp and lengths, and no visible cleansing conditioner remains at the roots or through the hair. Foam or a squeaky feel is not the goal.
