Tie a stacked-knot headwrap
Make a fabric-only front knot over a comfortable hair arrangement. Leave room at the hairline and use the wrap’s length to build the shape without pulling it tighter.
Step by step
STEP 1 OF 3Bring the cloth ends forward
- Arrange dry hair comfortably. Fold the rectangular cloth lengthwise to a suitable width and place its center at the back of your head.
- Bring one end forward in each hand, keeping the cloth over the hair. Check room at the hairline and ears; keep stray hairs out of the knot area.
STEP 2 OF 3Stack three loose knots
- Cross the cloth ends above your forehead and pass one end through to make a loose overhand knot. Settle it without pulling on the roots or ears.
- Tie two more overhand knots on top of the first. Hold the stack with one hand while the other tucks each tail into the top knot.
- Check that the cloth stays clear of your eyes and feels comfortable. If there is too little fabric, undo it and use a roomier wrap instead of cinching.
STEP 3 OF 3Untie before lifting the wrap
- Pull the tucked fabric tails free. Undo the uppermost knot, then the next, then the first, using both hands to keep hair clear.
- Open the cloth and lift it away gently. Release any hairstyle underneath separately; check for pressure or caught hairs before wearing the wrap again.
One covering, including the comfort check.
You’re done when…
Three cloth knots sit above the forehead, the ends are tucked, vision stays clear and the covering feels comfortable.
