Put your hair up with a claw clip

Step by step

  1. A woman gathers dry wavy hair low at the nape while an open claw clip is within reach.

    Gather low at the nape

    • Put the claw clip within easy reach. Use both hands to gather dry loose hair into a low bundle at the nape.
    • When one hand can hold the bundle, pick up and open the clip with the free hand. Keep the bundle loose enough that your scalp and neck feel comfortable.

    Fold upward and close the clip

    • Fold the gathered hair upward against the back of the head. Hold the fold with one hand while the other opens the clip wide.
    • Place the clip around the fold and let it close only when its teeth hold hair without pinching.

    Open before taking it out

    • Support the folded hair at its base with one hand. With the other, open the clip fully before moving it away.
    • Lift the open clip clear of the fold; do not slide closed teeth down through the hair.

About 15–60 sec hands-on for gathering and folding dry hair, closing a claw clip and later removing it. Wear time is separate; detangling and elaborate styling are not included.
