Prevent nape tangles while wearing long hair down
Clear the nape before wear, reduce repeated rubbing at collars and straps, and use a loose low containment option when friction builds.

Step by step
STEP 1 OF 3Clear the nape before wearing hair down
- Bring the nape section forward over one shoulder.
- Hold above any small tangle and use fingers or a wide-tooth comb from ends upward.
- Stop at a fixed mat instead of forcing the section.
STEP 2 OF 3Move hair before collars and straps
- Lift hair away before putting on a high collar, scarf, backpack strap or seat belt.
- Lay the hair over the garment or to one side instead of trapping it underneath.
- After removing the item, separate the nape gently with fingers before the tangle tightens.
STEP 3 OF 3Use loose low containment when needed
- If the nape keeps rubbing, make one loose low braid or ponytail with a soft fabric-covered tie.
- Check that the hairline and nape do not pull when you turn your head.
- Release the style at the end of the activity and finger-check the nape.
About 1–3 min hands-on for a brief nape detangle, moving hair clear of clothing and later checking it. A separately made braid or ponytail and substantial detangling add time.
You’re done when…
The nape is free of a fixed tangle, hair is not trapped under clothing or straps, and any containment stays loose and painless.
