Guide wiry gray strands into your style

When a few gray strands sit apart from the surrounding hair, gently reset their direction. Gray color alone does not mean a strand is coarse, and this changes the temporary style only.

A woman gently guides a small group of gray hairs along her side part with relaxed fingertips.

Step by step

  1. A woman touches damp fingertips to a small group of gray strands beside her part.
    STEP 1 OF 3

    Dampen the selected hairs

    • Stand at a fixed mirror and wet your fingertips with clean water. Choose a reachable group of gray strands at the part.
    • Touch damp fingertips to those hairs without rubbing the scalp or soaking the whole style.
  2. A woman gently guides a small group of gray hairs along her side part with relaxed fingertips.
    STEP 2 OF 3

    Follow a comfortable direction

    • With relaxed fingertips, guide the damp group in the direction it comfortably joins the surrounding style.
    • Release it instead of holding tension at the root. A strand that springs back can stay as it is.
  3. A woman lets the selected gray strands settle with her hands lowered.
    STEP 3 OF 3

    Let the direction settle

    • Leave the group alone to air-dry, then check it with both hands lowered.
    • Dry your hands and stop. Save persistent shape concerns for your next haircut discussion rather than cutting individual standing hairs.

About 15–60 sec hands-on for dampening and guiding a few selected strands, then a quick dry check. Add air-drying for the lightly dampened hairs.

Practical editorial estimate, not measured. A few fingertip strokes take seconds; this is not a whole-head restyle.

You’re done when…

The small damp group is dry and released, with no pulling or repeated attempts to force it flat.
