Fit a hair-covering liner

For a separate soft liner worn beneath an everyday hair covering. Orienting, containing and movement-checking it helps you find a fit that stays comfortable without assuming every liner prevents slip or friction.

    Prepare dry hair and orient the liner

    • Arrange completely dry hair in a low, loose shape that fits within the liner without a tight knot or pulled hairline.
    • Check that the liner is clean, dry and intact. Find its front, back, hair-facing side and ties or band using the maker’s directions.

    Guide the liner over your hair

    • Hold the front edge where you want it to rest. Guide the liner backward over the loose hair instead of dragging it along the hairline.
    • Pause to tuck only loose sections that reach easily. Remove and restart if containing the hair requires pulling or force.

    Adjust without pulling

    • Smooth bunches with flat fingers. Tighten the band only enough to lie flat, or begin the maker-directed tie without pulling.
    • For a permitted double knot, cross the tails and pass one through loosely; cross the other way, pass through again and leave it loose.
    • Turn and nod once. Loosen, reposition or choose another size or design if the liner pinches, pulls, shifts or creates pressure.

    Add the covering and check again

    • Place the everyday covering over the liner without dragging either layer. Complete the covering’s own required fit.
    • Turn and nod again. If the liner bunches, slips or changes the covering’s necessary fit, remove both layers and refit or skip the liner.
    • To remove it, lift off the covering, fully undo the ties or loosen the band, then lift the liner away without dragging.
    • Wash the liner by its exact care directions and let it dry fully before reuse.

About 1–3 min hands-on for fitting a familiar liner, adding a simple covering, comfort checks and later removal. A complex covering style and washing or drying the liner are separate.
