Fasten hair with a banana clip
Hold a loose ponytail between the two sides of a banana clip, with the hinge below. Check that the clasp closes easily, then open it fully before taking it out.
Step by step
STEP 1 OF 2Gather between the two arms
- Check the clip for rough teeth or a faulty clasp. Open and close it off your head first. Start with dry detangled loose hair.
- Gather the hair at a comfortable point behind your head. Hold it loosely with one hand while opening the clip with the other.
- Place the hinge below the gathering, with a comb arm on each side. Bring the upper ends together and close the clasp without trapping stray hair.
- If closing needs force or pulls the roots, reopen it and use less hair or a roomier clip. No elastic or heated preparation is needed.
STEP 2 OF 2Open before lifting away
- Lower your arms and gently turn your head. Refit or remove a clip that pinches or pulls.
- To remove it, support the hair with one hand. Release the upper clasp with the other and open the comb arms away from the gathering.
- Ease any caught strands off the teeth with your fingers before lifting the open clip away. Let the hair fall and put the clip away.
One fastening and later removal, with detangling done beforehand.
You’re done when…
The upper clasp closes easily, the roots feel comfortable and the clip opens fully for removal.
