Apply a root-lifting styling product
Root-focused spray application places a suitable styling product near the base of the hair, where its support is wanted before drying.

Step by step
STEP 1 OF 3Part and apply at the roots
- Start with clean, damp, detangled loose hair. Check that the spray permits root-focused application, and read its amount, distance and drying directions.
- Lift one small reachable row with one hand and spray the exposed root hair with the other, keeping the nozzle away from your face and the skin as directed.
STEP 2 OF 3Lift one section before drying
- Set the bottle down before using both hands. Lift a small crown section and gently arrange the root hair so the product is spread rather than pooled.
- Expose the next row and repeat the directed application only where support is wanted. Work across reachable sides and crown without exceeding the label’s amount.
STEP 3 OF 3Check after the directed dry
- Close the product and wash your hands. Complete its specified drying method; root spray does not make a heated tool safe at every setting.
- Once the hair is dry, lightly check the roots with open fingertips and arrange them without pulling. Do not keep adding spray to chase a larger result.
About 1–3 min hands-on for parting, root-product placement, spreading and hand cleanup. The label-required drying method is a separate step and may add active dryer time.
You’re done when…
The product was placed at the intended roots and the hair was dried by its label-directed method without a heavy coating on the lengths.
