Apply a rinse-out mineral-removal treatment

Use this for a water-activated crystal treatment that goes between two shampoo steps. The basin method shows how to mix it, cover the wet lengths, and complete the washes and rinses.

Step by step

    Apply the first shampoo

    • Start with wet hair and the shampoo the treatment calls for. Dispense its stated amount, put the container down, then spread it over your hands.
    • Massage gently over the scalp with your finger pads. Keep the lengths hanging loose and use any waiting time stated on the shampoo.

    Read the full treatment sequence first. Have the sprayer, packet, shampoo, conditioner, timer and towel within reach.

    Rinse out the first shampoo

    • Lean comfortably over the basin. Hold the sprayer in one hand and move hair aside with the other so water reaches the scalp, including the nape and behind the ears.
    • Guide the rinse through the lengths until visible lather is gone. Turn the water off and put the sprayer down. Keep the hair wet.

    • Open the packet first. Wet one palm, then use the other hand to pour the amount the packet specifies into it.
    • Put the packet on the reachable counter before using both hands. Keep the crystals away from your face.

    Dissolve the crystals

    • Add the water the packet calls for. Rub your hands together gently to dissolve the crystals before touching your hair.
    • Keep the mixture in your palms. Do not add shampoo, conditioner or another treatment to it.

    Work the mixture through the lengths

    • Bring a reachable section forward. Support it with one hand while the other cups and presses the dissolved treatment through it.
    • Work through the remaining lengths, including the inner hair. Keep to the packet’s placement and total amount. Release the hair if your fingers catch.

    Wait for the time on the packet

    • Leave the treated hair loose. Rinse and dry your hands before touching the timer, then time the treatment as the packet instructs.
    • Keep the timer where you can hear it. Rinse at the stated time without adding heat or leaving the treatment longer to chase a softer feel.

    Rinse the treatment from the lengths

    • Guide water through one section at a time. Use your free hand to open thick sections so the water reaches the inner hair.
    • Complete the packet’s rinse through every treated section. Let the water run down the hair without twisting or rubbing the lengths together.

    The photo shows one reachable section under a tap. Use your sprayer for areas the tap cannot reach; complete every treated section.

    Apply the following shampoo

    • Use the shampoo required after the treatment. Dispense the amount it gives, put the container down and spread it over your hands.
    • Massage gently over the scalp. Keep the lengths loose and follow any waiting time on the shampoo.

    Rinse out the following shampoo

    • Hold the sprayer in one hand and lift hair with the other. Rinse the crown, sides, nape and lengths until visible lather is gone.
    • If your packet requires another shampoo for your hair color, repeat the shampoo and rinse before conditioning. Turn the water off and set the sprayer down.

    Extra washing is conditional on the actual packet. Do not add it automatically for every hair color or treatment.

    Apply the conditioner

    • Use the conditioner the treatment calls for. Put the container down and spread the stated amount over your hands.
    • Smooth it through the lengths that need conditioning, supporting each section lightly. Leave it on for the time its directions give.

    Rinse out the conditioner

    • Pick up the sprayer with one hand and support the lengths with the other. Move water through each conditioned section, opening thicker areas so the inner hair is rinsed too.
    • Finish the rinse the conditioner requires. Softness or slip can remain after visible product is gone; do not keep washing for a squeaky feel.

    Finish and clear the wash area

    • Turn off the water and set the sprayer down. Gently squeeze excess water from the lengths and blot drips with your towel.
    • Close the bottles, discard the empty packet and rinse product from your hands and basin. Wipe splashes from the counter and floor before moving away.

About 15–25 minutes hands-on for both shampoos, mixing, application, rinses, conditioning and cleanup. Add the stated waiting times. Drying afterward is separate.
