Squish conditioner into waves
With soaking-wet wavy hair and rinse-out conditioner, cup the ends upward and compress gently so water and product move through the lengths.

Step by step
STEP 1 OF 3Saturate and apply conditioner
- Soak the hair fully, then move clear of the water stream.
- Apply the label amount of rinse-out conditioner to mids and ends.
- Smooth it downward lightly so the lengths stay wet and separated rather than tangled.
STEP 2 OF 3Cup ends upward and compress
- Collect water in one open palm under the ends.
- Lift the ends toward the mids and close both palms gently around the section.
- Press and release a few times so water and conditioner move through; do not twist or wring.
STEP 3 OF 3Rinse as labeled and check the clumps
- Rinse fully or partially only as the conditioner label directs.
- Keep using gentle cupping while water moves through the lengths, then stop handling.
- Check that no heavy pocket of conditioner remains and the waves are not tangled.
About 4–7 min hands-on for saturating lengths, applying conditioner, cupping with water and rinsing. Add the conditioner label's dwell; shampooing and drying are separate.
You’re done when…
Conditioner and water were compressed through the wavy lengths without twisting, and the product was rinsed to its label-directed finish.
