Spray temporary color on a small hair section

Try a small section below the face after the label’s testing steps. Light passes and full drying help you judge the color before deciding whether to add more.

Step by step

  1. An adult isolates a dry side section below the face while wearing a protective cape.
    STEP 1 OF 3

Protect the area and isolate dry hair

    • Complete the label’s skin and hidden-strand tests first. Cover clothing and surfaces, and move to a ventilated space away from heat and flames.
    • Bring a small dry section below your face. Clip other hair aside if needed; keep eyes, skin and your supporting hand outside the spray path.
  2. An adult aims a temporary color spray at a small hair length, with the supporting hand below the spray path.
    STEP 2 OF 3

Use light passes at the labeled distance

    • Shake the can as directed. Hold the section by its tip with one hand and aim the nozzle at the middle length with the other.
    • Keep the label’s distance and apply a light pass away from your face. Let it air-dry fully before deciding whether another pass is needed.
  3. An adult lets a small colored section dry with the capped spray can on the counter.
    STEP 3 OF 3

Let it dry and remove as directed later

    • Cap and store the can as directed. Do not touch or restyle the colored section until dry; release any clips gently and watch for fabric transfer.
    • When ready to remove it, shampoo according to the color label and rinse thoroughly. Stop repeated harsh scrubbing if a stain remains and contact the maker.

One small section, excluding advance testing and later washing.
