Route a ponytail through a helmet hairport

Route a ponytail only through the opening intended for it, then perform the helmet maker’s full fit checks. Hair arrangement must work with the required fit.

Step by step

  1. An adult guides a ponytail through the intended rear opening of a helmet while holding it steady.
    STEP 1 OF 3

Guide the tail through its intended opening

    • Tie a comfortable ponytail where the helmet instructions permit it. Loosen the retention system as directed and lower the helmet into its correct position.
    • Steady the helmet with one hand. Guide the tail through the designated opening from inside to outside with the other; keep hair clear of straps and the dial.
  2. An adult checks the fastened helmet straps with the ponytail outside the rear opening.
    STEP 2 OF 3

    Complete the helmet’s fit checks

    • Fasten and adjust the helmet exactly as its maker directs. Check its position, straps and retention with the ponytail in place; there must be no hair pulling or obstruction.
    • If hair prevents the required fit, take the helmet off and rearrange it. Do not loosen, tilt or modify the helmet to make room.
  3. An adult holds the removed helmet away from the free ponytail.
    STEP 3 OF 3

Guide hair free before lifting away

    • While stationary, unfasten the buckle and loosen retention as the manual directs. Support the helmet and gently guide the tail back through the opening as you lift.
    • Stop if hair catches; lower the helmet again and free the strands without pulling. Remove the hair tie separately once the helmet is off.

One setup and removal.

Unmeasured editorial handling estimate for the stated scope. Familiarity, access and the item or hair being handled change the time.

You’re done when…

Hair clears the intended opening and fit system without pulling, and the helmet passes its own maker’s full fit checks before use.
