Rinse and dry a silicone swim cap
Rinse a silicone swim cap after use and let both sides dry before it goes back into a bag. Handle the thin material gently while cleaning it.
Step by step
STEP 1 OF 2Rinse both sides after use
- Read the cap’s care directions. Remove it from your head and hold the opening gently over a sink, clear of nails and catching jewelry.
- Rinse the inside with fresh water and rotate the cap to rinse its outer surface. Use cool or room-temperature water unless its maker says otherwise.
- Let the water drain without wringing or stretching the cap. Avoid adding cleaners unless its own instructions call for them.
STEP 2 OF 2Air-dry before putting it away
- Set the cap on a clean towel away from heaters and direct heat. Open it gently so moisture is not trapped inside.
- Let both sides air-dry; reposition it gently if the lower side remains damp. Do not pack it wet for prolonged storage.
- Check for tears or rough catches, then put the dry cap in a clean storage area away from sharp items.
Rinsing and setting out one cap, plus air-drying before storage.
You’re done when…
Both sides are dry, the cap is free of visible debris and it can be put away without trapping moisture.
