Fully saturate hair before applying styling products

Move water through the crown, underneath and ends until every intended styling section is uniformly soaking wet, then apply only a product that allows that start state.

Both hands divide dense wet hair so water reaches the hidden inner sections and nape.

Step by step

  1. One hand directs water over the roots while the other opens the wet surface layers.

    Wet the surface and roots

    • Set the next styling product aside and wet the hair with comfortably warm water.
    • Turn slightly so water reaches the front, sides, crown and nape.
    • Lean over the basin and use the handheld sprayer while your free hand lifts the roots so water reaches underneath.
  2. Both hands divide dense wet hair so water reaches the hidden inner sections and nape.

    Open and soak hidden sections

    • Divide dense or long hair loosely with fingers; do not create tight parts.
    • Move water through each inner section from roots to ends.
    • Gently squeeze one section once; if inner strands still feel dry or puffy, wet them again.
  3. Fingertips check roots and ends for uniform wetness before reaching for styling product.

    Check uniform wetness and transition

    • Turn water off and check crown, nape and ends with wet fingertips.
    • Hair should look and feel uniformly saturated rather than dry in pockets.
    • Apply the next product promptly only if its label allows soaking-wet hair; otherwise blot to its required state.

About 1–3 min hands-on for wetting, opening hidden sections and checking saturation. Product application is separate.
