Fit a shower cap over dry hair
Cover dry hair for a shower when you want to limit direct water contact. A roomy cap contains the hair without a tight knot or pressure at the rim.
Step by step
STEP 1 OF 2Contain hair and check the rim
- Start on dry ground with dry hair and a clean intact shower cap. Follow its directions to identify the front and back.
- If needed, gather longer hair into a low loose coil held by a soft tie. Leave short hair untied; avoid rigid clips under the cap.
- Open the cap over the gathering, then guide its rim around the hairline as its design directs. Tuck loose lengths inside without dragging the rim over them.
- Check the back and sides by touch. Keep the rim comfortable and your face clear; use a roomier cap if containing the hair needs force.
STEP 2 OF 2Lift away and dry the cap
- During the shower, avoid directing water at the rim. The cap may not exclude all water or steam. Remove it if it feels uncomfortable.
- After the shower, stand on dry ground. Lift the rim away from your hairline with both hands, ease out caught strands and lift the cap off.
- Release any soft tie and let the hair settle. Dry the cap fully by its care directions before storage, and clean it when needed as directed.
Fitting and removal only. Shower time and drying the cap are additional.
You’re done when…
Hair is contained without pulling, the face is clear, and the cap can be lifted away without catching the lengths.
