Cover and release a bun with a hair net
A fine net can help contain loose ends around a bun for dance or everyday wear. Choose a size that fits the bun comfortably and keep the fasteners easy to find for removal.
Step by step
STEP 1 OF 3Make a comfortable reachable bun
- Gather dry manageable hair into a low ponytail. Coil the length loosely around its base and tuck the end under the coil.
- Hold the coil and slide smooth pins through its outer hair into the base hair, parallel to your head with tips concealed. Stop for pulling or pressure.
STEP 2 OF 3Settle the net around the bun
- Open the net with both hands and place it over the bun. Ease the elastic rim around the base without forcing the bun smaller.
- Tuck spare mesh around the base. Support the net with one hand and slide a smooth pin through its edge into the bun hair, keeping the tip concealed.
- Check around the edge for loose mesh, escaping pins and pressure. Use a better-fitting net if there is too much spare mesh or the edge pulls.
STEP 3 OF 3Remove the net before undoing the bun
- After wear, find and remove every pin fastening the net. Support the bun while lifting the rim and gently peeling the mesh away from loose hairs.
- Set the net aside. Remove the underlying bun pins, unwind the coil and take out the ponytail tie. Free any small catch with your fingers.
- Count and collect the fasteners, inspect the net and follow its care label before storing it dry.
One comfortable bun and net, including setup and later takedown.
You’re done when…
The net contains the bun without pressure or exposed pin tips, and all net fasteners are removed before the mesh is lifted away.
